Introduction to Health Careers Presentation was designed to provide students with a career exploration opportunity. This hour and half program is designed to introduce high school students to careers in health care. These students will explore careers related to their strengths, skills and talents with a focus on career options in health care. We would like you to join us in sharing this program with your high school students entering 9th and 12th grade.
Current health care workforce shortages threaten the viability of medical care in the region. HM AHEC strives to meet the future workforce demand by encouraging youth from diverse backgrounds to pursue health careers and meet the needs of medically underserved and disadvantaged communities.

United States Department of Labor — Bureau of Labor Statistics
Employment of healthcare occupations is projected to grow 19 percent from 2014 to 2024, much faster than the average for all occupations, adding about 2.3 million new jobs. Healthcare occupations will add more jobs than any other group of occupations. This growth is expected due to an aging population and because federal health insurance reform should increase the number of individuals who have access to health insurance. For further information on this projection please visit the US Dept of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics Healthcare Occupations website.
