Hudson Mohawk Area Health Education Center (Hudson Mohawk AHEC) was established in 2001 and is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to developing and strengthening the healthcare workforce in underserved communities in the counties of Albany, Essex, Fulton, Montgomery, Hamilton, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Warren and Washington in New York State.

We have a long history of success with our pipeline, clinical placements and continuing education for our current healthcare workforce in our region. Our programs include:

  • Career exploration programming to introduce high school students to a wide array of opportunities in healthcare through classroom presentations and hands-on learning activities.

  • Experiential learning opportunities for students in healthcare professions programs as part of the training program requirements (field placements or clinical rotations) or as part of the AHEC Scholars program.

  • Continuing education programs to meet the changing workforce needs of healthcare professionals

  • Opioid prevention and education activities throughout our communities with a rural emphasis in Fulton and Essex counties

We recognize that underserved communities exist throughout our broad and diverse 10-county region and we strive to provide programming to promote health and wellness throughout our region - from the high peaks of the Adirondacks to urban neighborhoods in our Capital Region.

Located in Latham, New York, we are a locally focused non-profit backed by the expertise and resources of a national network dedicated to developing and strengthening the healthcare workforce in underserved communities.
