Center for Health Workforce Studies

The Center for Health Workforce Studies (CHWS)—established in 1996—is an academic research center based at the School of Public Health on the Health Sciences Campus at the University at Albany, State University of New York (SUNY). Our mission is to provide timely, accurate information and conduct policy-relevant research about the health workforce.

Our work assists health, professional, and educational organizations, policy makers, planners, and other stakeholders to understand issues related to the supply, demand, distribution, and use of health workers.

The research conducted by CHWS supports and promotes health workforce planning and policymaking at local, regional, state, and national levels. CHWS is 1 of 9 health workforce research centers in the US, and the only HRSA-sponsored center with a unique focus on the oral health workforce.

Healthy Capital District

The Healthy Capital District Initiative works to increase access to coverage, provides health planning expertise, and supports health prevention programs across the Capital Region. By working together with area hospitals, health insurers, county health departments, catholic charities, and other health-focused organizations, HCD has been able to determine some of the major barriers to health services. Hudson Headwaters Health Network

Hudson Headwaters Health Network is a federally qualified health center (FQHC) and nonprofit system of 21 community health centers providing primary care to more than 7,200 square miles of the Adirondack North Country and Glens Falls region. The network serves all of Warren County and parts of Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Hamilton, Saratoga and Washington counties.
