Our Career Exploration programs help students discover the wide range of career opportunities in the healthcare field, available right here in our region!


Beginning Your Career in Health - Classroom presentations

Our Health Career Exploration presentation is designed to introduce students in grades 9-12 to the many different Healthcare Career opportunities that are out there. This comprehensive program outlines the many healthcare careers in demand in our region, and helps students develop an understanding of how they can pursue this careers and what training is necessary to do so..  This program is offered in partnership with local high school guidance counselors, career counselors, and career instructors.

The Health Careers Exploration Guide is our new resource to help understand many of the health careers available. The guide provides descriptions of each health occupation, employment demand/outlook, average salaries, education needed and training/education programs in NYS.

MASH Camp

Hudson Mohawk AHEC’s MASH Camp is a comprehensive hands-on, interactive health career exposure program for students in grades 8-12.  During this camp, students will learn from local health professionals how they came to pursue their profession, what training is involved, and what their job is all about.  Through interactive presentations, students gain a better understanding of opportunities for careers in the healthcare field.

Job Shadows and Internships

We believe students who have early exposure to healthcare careers are more likely to enter the field.  As such, we work to provide students in grades 9-12 opportunities to observe and learn from professionals in health-related fields..

Health Career Scholarship

Hudson Mohawk AHEC is proud to offer an annual scholarship program to support high school students and adult learners who plan to enter a health professions training certificate or degree program. 

Individuals who are newly entering an approved health related certificate or degree program at community colleges, universities or training entities in New York State are eligible to apply - recipients are able to apply for year two of their program. 

Applications for the 2025 Health Career Scholarship will be open on January 1, 2025.
