We encourage all health professions students and health professionals to consider dedicating their career to supporting medically underserved communities. Medically underserved areas (MUAs) exist throughout our region and are found in both rural and urban settings.  Practitioners working in these settings know firsthand the importance of their work to the people they serve. A number of programs exist to support practitioners who choose to serve in medically underserved areas:
